Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CityU InnoPortal platform ("InnoPortal", the "Platform"), operated by City University of Hong Kong ("CityU"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

Eligibility & accounts

  • The Platform is intended for CityU researchers and staff (via CityUHK single sign-on) and for industry partners who register an organisation account.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for all activity under your account. Keep your sign-in credentials and magic-link emails confidential.

Acceptable use

  • Use the Platform only for lawful innovation-and-technology collaboration purposes.
  • Do not post unlawful, infringing, misleading or confidential third-party content, attempt to disrupt the Platform, or misuse other users' contact details.

Content & intellectual property

  • You retain ownership of the wishes, solutions and materials you submit, and grant CityU a licence to host and display that content on the Platform for the purpose of operating the matchmaking service.
  • The Platform, its design and CityU trademarks remain the property of CityU and its licensors.
  • Any research collaboration, licensing or commercial arrangement arising from a match is governed by a separate agreement between the parties; the Platform only facilitates introductions.

Matching & no warranty

  • Recommendations and matches are provided on a best-effort basis. CityU does not guarantee the suitability, availability or outcome of any collaboration, and the Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Limitation of liability

  • To the extent permitted by law, CityU is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform or from any collaboration initiated through it.

Changes & governing law

  • We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
